Thanksgiving for All

Gather's 6th annual Thanksgiving food distribution was held on November 16th and served 1,435 individuals. In addition to turkeys, everyone received all the trimmings for their Thanksgiving dinner including squash, carrots, celery, potatoes, onions, cranberry sauce, stuffing, canned vegetables, and delicious pies.

As the shoppers checked in, they were greeted by volunteers who held their bags as they went down the line. They were able to enjoy some coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies provided by the Gather Cafe and Cooking 4 Community. We were joined by the Alliance for Greater Good, which gave out over 2,000 hats, scarves, gloves, and socks at the end of the line.

The holiday event was made possible with the support of Portsmouth Ford, Tuscan Brands, Favorite Foods, Fifth Flavor, High Liner Foods, Timberland, the Alliance for Greater Good, Service Credit Union, and United Healthcare as well as Gather volunteers and staff.

The giving doesn’t end with Thanksgiving. Gather’s pantry is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an outdoor market held at Community Campus Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  Additional mobile market information can be found here
