Community Comes Together to Support New Truck
When Gather lost one of its refrigerated trucks in an accident, a social media post caught the eye of Andre Carrier, CEO of The Brook, a casino and sports betting place in Seabrook. Knowing about Gather’s good work, Carrier quickly stepped in and offered to match donations up to $25,000 to help buy a new truck.
“He already knew about Gather and how important they are to the community,” said Leslie Wiseman, The Brook’s charity contact. “He wanted to make sure the truck was replaced quickly.”
The Brook gives 35% of its yearly money to New Hampshire charities, and Gather’s trucks are key for their mobile food markets and picking up food donations in the Seacoast area.
“Our trucks are so important,” said Anne Hayes, Gather’s director. “Without them, we can’t get food to people who need it. We were so excited when The Brook offered the $25,000 match.”
This donation kicked off Gather’s $50,000 fundraiser to raise sufficient funds to purchase a new truck, which was bought in May and back on the road by late June.
